Shipping policy

Attaie cigars are delivered within the United States, by UPS, to a guest of twenty-one or over who signs for the parcel in person. This page explains where we deliver, how, and what we ask of our guest at the door.

Who may receive a parcel

Every parcel is sent with UPS Adult Signature Required. The driver will ask the person who receives it to show government-issued photo identification proving they are 21 or older and to sign. No parcel is left without a signature, and a parcel cannot be released to anyone younger than 21, whoever placed the order. If nobody of age is available, UPS will attempt delivery again; after the final attempt the parcel returns to us (see "Parcels that come back").

The name on the order should be the name of the person who will sign. We verify the age and identity of our guest when the order is placed, and again at the door.

Where we deliver

At present we deliver to the following states and the District of Columbia: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.

Several states ask a seller of cigars to hold a licence, to collect a state tobacco tax or to verify age in a particular way before a parcel may be sent there. We are completing those steps state by state and will add each state as it is cleared. If your state is not yet listed, write to the guest desk and we will tell you when we expect to deliver there. Hawaii, Utah, Arkansas, Washington, South Dakota and Guam do not permit cigars to be delivered to a private address from out of state, and we do not deliver there.

We do not deliver to PO boxes, to APO, FPO or DPO addresses, to parcel lockers, or to freight or parcel forwarders, because none of these can provide an adult signature. An order to such an address will be cancelled and refunded before it ships.

We do not deliver outside the United States at present. Guests elsewhere in the world are welcome to write to the guest desk; we will let you know when we can welcome you.

How we deliver

Parcels leave our humidor by UPS Ground unless another service is shown at checkout. Delivery charges, if any, are shown at checkout before you pay. You will receive an email with the UPS tracking number when your parcel is on its way, and UPS will tell you the expected day of delivery. Because an adult must sign, you may wish to have the parcel sent to a place where you, or another adult of 21 or over, will be during the day.

Your card is charged when the parcel is dispatched, not when the order is placed.

Taxes

Sales tax, and in the states that require it a state tobacco tax, is shown as its own line at checkout. The federal excise on cigars is already included in the price of the box.

Parcels that come back

If a parcel returns to us because no adult of 21 or over was available to sign after UPS's delivery attempts, because the address was incomplete, or because the delivery was refused, we will write to you. You may ask us to send it again, at our delivery charge for the second journey, or we will refund the cigars less the carrier's charges for the outward and return journeys. A parcel that comes back opened or in poor condition cannot be re-sent or refunded.

If a parcel arrives damaged, or something is missing or not what you ordered, write to the guest desk within seven days of delivery with a photograph and we will put it right.

Warnings

Cigar smoking can cause cancers of the mouth and throat, even if you do not inhale. Parcels to California carry the warning required by California law (Proposition 65). The outside of every carton states that it contains tobacco products and that the signature of a person 21 years of age or older is required for delivery.
